Sarah Varcas: 3rd November 2013: Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

Fresh Air & Space

This eclipse occurs in the midst of an intense time of change for many people, and whilst solar eclipses can be a bit notorious for shaking things up even more, this one comes with a gentler message of support and validation for our efforts and intentions to release all that holds us back from knowing and living our truth.
The cycle of eclipses to which this one belongs sheds light on the unconscious and makes connections between what lies within it and our more conscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours. These connections can act as catalysts for deeper insight and greater freedom if we let them. With Mercury retrograde conjunct the Moon’s North Node, it is vital we be as honest as we can be with ourselves. This is no time for obfuscation to avoid the pain of waking up. And yes, waking up can hurt when it entails looking ourselves in the face to see just what’s really going on. But that’s no reason to avoid it, because the pain is a sign that we’re looking in the right direction and the light of truth is very close indeed. The ego hurts when it’s challenged with the truth of our denials, deceptions, avoidance and projections, but when we can detach from that pain, not intensifying it by making it ‘mine’, it can begin to burn out leaving the fresh air and space of a consciousness cleared of debris and a spirit free to soar.
It is that fresh air and space which this eclipse wants us to experience now. Many have found the recent times incredibly intense and the future seems to hold no respite. But this eclipse reminds us that respite exists right here in this moment, the minute we let go, breathe out and surrender our fear in favour of a deeper knowing that the path of wisdom entails walking through some fairly challenging and scary terrain. But in this knowing we can be clear that all will be well if we do so with presence and awareness, not allowing ourselves to be thrown by the power of our emotions or the imposing nature of our personal shadowlands.
This eclipse marks an opportunity to stop and take stock, turn within and ask ourselves some probing questions about what’s really going on in our lives, especially the areas with which we struggle. Excuses won’t cut it now. Pussy-footing around the point won’t work. The heavens want honest answers which we will know by their energetic charge which floods through our being when we articulate the truth. Today we don’t have to share that truth with others. Indeed it may take some time to come to terms with it ourselves! But speaking it in the privacy of our own thoughts is the first step to embracing it fully and owning its presence in our life.
This solar eclipse in Scorpio offers a golden opportunity to turn within and recognise where we may be tying ourselves down with the ropes of denial, victim-consciousness, compulsive projections or just plain old fear! However we tie ourselves in knots, now’s the time for the escapology to begin! We no longer have to live life in the same old way. We can envision a more honest and direct way of living. More vibrant and alive. And the best way to bring that vision into reality is to begin right now by looking within, observing the truth and speaking it back to ourselves with awareness and love, knowing that, ultimately, it is this very truth – no matter how unpalatable – which will set us completely free.
Happy solar eclipse everybody.
