Gloria Wendroff: Heavenletter #4567 -- As You Are

Balance. Certainly, you have heard that it is good to be balanced. In terms of the world, it may mean dividing your time between work and play equitably. It may mean you are neither an introvert or an extrovert. It may mean a middle of line approach to life.

I like to say that it is good to be the human person that you are. What gives you joy? If work is your joy, work to the degree that you like to work. Who is it that says you are to apportion percentages of your life in some kind of harness? Who from the outside is to say where your joy lies?
The balance I suggest is that you are on an even keel whatever is going on in your life.
If you are someone who enjoys play more than anything else, I do not suggest that you be irresponsible. Sports figures play games and are working. How wonderful to be doing the work you most like whether it is bookkeeping or design or writing or cleaning house.
A table has to have certain proportions to be sturdy. Legs have to be of equal length. When it comes to people’s lives, there is freedom. A balanced life for you is not the same as a balanced life for another.
One who is an artist takes joy in sculpting or painting. A gardener takes joy in loving plants and taking care of them. Both artists and gardeners create beauty. Architects, engineers, carpenters the same. An accountant creates a certain kind of beauty as well, a butcher, a baker, a candlestick-maker. There is beauty in symmetry and beauty in the asymmetrical as well.
And so in life. Life does not have to be symmetrical to be wonderful, nor does an asymmetry have to be off-balance. Is someone who doesn’t know you supposed to set standards for your life? Do you consider that authors know more than you about your life and where your happiness lies? Do you imagine that anyone is more of an expert on your life than you are?
Enjoy as you enjoy. It is not for you to cut off your feet to fit the bed nor is it for you to alter your joy and direction in life at someone else’s say so.
Of course, at the same time, nor are you to rule out everything that is said. You are free to listen. You are even free to try out something different as you choose. The key words are: As you choose.
One person likes to travel. Another likes to stay home. Is one better than another? Where is it said that it is an error to follow your heart? Whatever you do, there is something you are not doing. Whatever paths you choose, there are paths you don’t choose.
Paths can change. Paths can stay the same.
One artist likes to stand up to paint. Another likes to sit down to paint. One loves pink. Another loves orange. One likes circles. Another prefers squares. One loves straight lines. Another loves wavy lines. One loves big strokes. Another prefers dots. Is there not room in the world for all to follow their hearts? Follow your own heart responsibly, and see where it takes you.
In the world, today, you may be one of the lucky ones who has the freedom to follow your heart. You are not in bondage.
There are those who are also lucky in a different way. They must earn a living this way or that, and their happiness is in doing what is right before them.
One may ask the question: “What do I want to do?” Another may ask the question: “What is before me to do?” One may ask: “What is my dharma?” Another may ask: “How do I serve today?”
One man’s dharma may be to serve. Another’s may be to make music. Music is also serving. Whatever you do, you are giving service. Happiness is yours to take, and happiness is yours to give.

Ann Albers: "Compassion Makes Us The Light of Inspiration"

My dear friends, we love you so very much.

As so many of you watch the recent natural disasters we want to remind you that the greatest way you could ever assist those who are suffering or in pain is to love them. This love can come in many forms. You can pray for the individuals affected. You can, if you are guided, contribute to the organizations and individuals offering relief. You can sit in a chair, and ask God to show you one individual who needs extra love and then imagine wrapping them in the embrace of your own loving soul. You can send letters when efforts to receive that kind of love are available. If you are in the area you can volunteer your time or services. Of if you are not guided to assist in these ways you can simply pour love into your own life, knowing that the greater number of individuals who choose to live in love and peace, the greater the peace on your entire planet.

There are so many ways to love and assist those in need, but the one thing we ask you to strive to avoid is "feeling bad for" those who have been affected, for in truth "feeling bad" or "feeling pity" has never uplifted a single soul on your planet earth. And although it is very human to do so, strive to change these feelings to feelings of compassion, for compassion is love. Pity says, "Poor you! This should not be! I am glad I am not you right now!" Pity is an energy of judgment, although subtle, and rarely intended.

Compassion, on the other hand says, "Although we are at different places in our journey, I trust there is a greater reason for this, even when I do not understand what this is. I am going to love you through your pain. I will offer you a hand up, rather than sinking in the depths of despair with you I will be a beacon of hope and inspiration for you, for we have all known loss. We have all known confusion. We have all known the fear of not knowing how life is going to work. My heart is your heart and I love you." Compassion is an energy of acceptance, trust, and unconditional love. A compassionate heart knows that there is a higher order to all things, even those that seem incomprehensible and hurtful, and can offer comfort to those in need. For out of every natural disaster, the most amazing acts of human love and kindness arise. Communities bond. The world comes together and sets aside greed, borders, barriers, boundaries, religious, cultural, and ethnic differences and realizes you are One human race with the same hearts, the same needs, the same concerns, and in the end, the same Love.

Beautiful hearts, we love you so very much. We know the pain you witness in others tugs and pulls on your hearts. But the sun does not dim to make you comfortable in your struggles. Rather it remains bright, supporting and guiding you, offering the promise of a new day even in the darkness.

Please know that your hearts are only being asked to open more widely, to share from the wealth of love within. And if you are one of those angels affected by the recent events, know that God walks inside and beside you, in the form of so many both in the heavens and on the earth that honor and acknowledge your willingness to uplift the human spirit even in times of your own need.

God bless you. We love you so very much.

Message From Ann
Hi Everyone,

I did not find out about the tornadoes in Oklahoma until I was in a chat room during the Braco live streams. A woman mentioned that she was there and the sirens were going off but she was fine. Her heart was peace in the storm and her home and family were mercifully unaffected. You see stories in every disaster of houses being spared by tornadoes in strange ways, and stories of people in hurricanes whose houses wash away, but who are miraculously tossed into safe spaces. I have a friend who long ago was spared almost certain death as waves of a wildfire in California miraculously went around the house where she was trapped and praying. We too can be peace in the storms of life. We too can have the faith that no harm comes to us unless we have something to learn or contribute through the experience. And when our lives are going well and we witness others going through sometimes unthinkable disasters and pain, we can be the angels who offer hope, relief, and compassion.

So how do you know what to give and when? Like many others, when I watched the recent tornadoes from the safety of my own solid home, I felt a mixture of both fascination and awe with the powers of nature, a sense of gratitude for my peaceful life, and huge waves of compassion for those affected. I wanted to reach out and hold some of those people in my arms, but instead I sent my soul and prayed for them to feel the ever loving embrace of God rise up within them. When I am guided I donate money. After one disaster, before I had even paid my own bills I heard the angels giving me a specific large amount to contribute. I wrote the check without thought, knowing my needs would be met as well. After the hurricane back east last year I was guided to connect those with supplies and those in need, even though I was nowhere near the area. Trust, that you will know what to do.

So when you see the tough things going on in the world, quiet your minds. Drop into your hearts. Ask a simple question, "God/Source what do you want me to do here?" You may get nothing. In that case, the answer is, "Nothing." You may get pray, play, contribute, etc. Trust your own heart and your own guidance. It may not seem like "enough" but trust again and always that the power that moves the stars in the heavens can coordinate the gifts of those "who have" with the requirements of those "who need."

I know that by continuing to celebrate my happy life, while at the same time offering immense light, love, compassion, and contributions as guided, this will be the way I can uplift souls. Some are guided to fly in and shelter or feed others. Some are guided to pray. Some are guided to counsel or console. Many are not guided to do a thing in one case or another. Your love in any aspect of your life, whether directly related to the disaster or not, contributes to the greater good of humanity.

So if you are affected, we send you great love and acknowledge you for your strength and for demonstrating the best the human spirit has to offer. And if you are not affected, ask if there is anything you can do to love those who have been affected. Listen to the still small voice of you heart, for this is where we connect with the One Love that binds us all together.

I love you all and hold you in my heart,
Ann

Be The Change ...

Change your routine by doing something different - like smiling at a stranger, walking instead of taking the subway, or writing down your dreams.

For me, I'm following up on a childhood memory ... the Banyan Tree.

Draw the tree that has been heavy on your heart all morning. Since childhood. For the past few weeks. A big family. A movement of sorts going on beneath the tree. A gathering of many, or just one.

Decide on one person whom you will tell about your tree. Make a coffee date.

Ask yourself: How thick is my tree? How crisp are the leaves? How high are the branches? Can I climb them? Dare I climb them?

And, when you’ve drawn the tree completely, ask the most important question of all: Will it give shade to someone else one day?

If we can transform ourselves, we have the potential to change the world.

Recipe: Raw Chocolate Pistachio Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

3/4 cup dates, pitted and chopped
1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup oats (I used GF)
1 cup pistachios
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1/8-1/4 teaspoon himalayan salt
1/4 cup water, as needed
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips or cacao nibs

Place all ingredients in food processor except for 1/4 cup of the pistachio's, water and chocolate chips. Blend until combined adding the water a little at at time to help with the consistency of the dough, this will depend on your liking. Next, mix in the rest of the pistachio's and chocolate chips, using your hands for this is best. I also added a large pinch of oats for a more chunky feel to my cookies. Roll into 1 inch balls (mine were a bit bigger) and enjoy licking your fingers, and the bowl, when your all done. Makes approx. 12 balls.

Recipe: Classic French Apple Tart

Ingredients:

Tart Dough:
• 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 Tbsp sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt

• 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
• 3 Tbsp vegetable shortening, cubed and chilled
• 5-6 Tbsp cold water

Apricot Glaze:
• 1/4 cup apricot preserves
• 1/2 Tbsp water

Custard:
• 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 3/4 cup half and half
• 1/2 tsp vanilla

Apples:
• 1 1/2 lbs (3 large) Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored cut into 1/8-inch slices
• 3 Tbsp sugar
• 2 Tbsp unsalted butter

• Cinnamon Sugar:
• 1 Tbsp sugar
• 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

1. To prepare the tart dough, combine the dry ingredients in a food processor and pulse to combine. Add the cubed butter and shortening and pulse to form pea-sized pieces. Add 5 Tbsp cold water and pulse until the dough starts to come together, adding more water as needed. Shape the dough into a long rectangle, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/8-inch thick. Gently place onto a cookie sheet. Lift and place the dough onto the sheet, careful not to stretch the dough. Use your fingers to press the dough firmly. Prick the bottom with a fork, then return to the fridge for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

3. Line the chilled rectangular shell with aluminum foil and fill with pie weights. Bake about 20 minutes until the crust is pale golden brown and the surface looks dry. Remove the foil and pie weights and let cool while you prepare the glaze and filling. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F.

4. To make the glaze, combine the apricot preserves and water in a saucepan and heat until melted. Strain through a sieve, then brush over the surface of the cooled tart shell.

5. For the custard, heat the half and half in a small saucepan to a simmer. Meanwhile, whisk together the flour, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl until completely smooth. Once the milk is heated, slowly drizzle into the egg mixture, whisking constantly. Set aside.

6. Prepare the apples. Melt the butter and sugar in a large, high sided saute pan over medium heat. Add the apple slices and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to soften, about 5-10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool (unless you have tough fingers like me and can handle the hot slices).

7. To assemble the tart, arrange the apple slices over the prepared tart shell. I begin by placing slices along the outer edge of the shell, cut side facing into the center, then repeat with a second layer (this helps prop up the apples once you start arranging the slices, otherwise the inner apples end up much higher than the outer apples). From there, arrange the slices, starting from the outside, overlapping the slices so the cut side of the previous slice is covered by the next slice. Save the smaller slices for the inner space.

8. Pour the custard over the apples, tilting the pan so it fills in all the gaps, filling to just below the edge of the tart shell. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar. Bake 25-30 minutes, until the custard is set. Let cool before removing from the tart shell. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

#2 -- With Mayonnaise
Ingredients:

1 carrot, diced
2 stalks celery
1 shallot, thinly sliced

4-5 sprigs of dill
2 lemons
1 c. white wine
4 c. water
Lobster tails and claws
1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
1/2 c. mayonnaise
Salt and pepper
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
French rolls

Directions:
Combine carrot, 1 celery stalk (diced), shallot, and 1 sprig of dill in a large saucepan. Cut 1 lemon in half, squeeze juice into saucepan and add juiced halves to the pot. Add whine, water and Old Bay. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, add lobster tails and return to a boil. Boil lobsters for 1 minute per ounce. Remove from heat and let sit for about 3 minutes. Strain and let cool.

Once lobster has cooled enough to handle, remove meat from the shells. Discard remaining solids. Dice lobster into bite sized pieces. Combine lobster, mayonnaise, and the juice of half a lemon. Finely dice remaining celery stalk and add to the mixture. Mince dill and add about 2 tsp. fresh dill to the mixture. Stir well and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a microwave safe dish. Brush the inside of the French rolls with melted butter and broil until toasted to desired color. Spoon about 1/3 c. lobster salad per roll. Serve.

Recipe: Chocolate Truffles

Ingredients

1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 pound semisweet chocolate
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa

In a small saucepan, bring the cream to a simmer. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate and butter. In a medium sized skillet, bring 1/2 inch of water to a slow simmer. Set the saucepan in the skillet over low heat. Stir mixture just until chocolate has completely melted. Remove from heat. Pour the chocolate mixture into a pie plate. Cool, cover and refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours.

Pour the cocoa into a pie plate. Line an airtight container with waxed paper. Dip a melon baller or small spoon into a glass of warm water and quickly scrape across the surface of the chilled truffle mixture to form a rough 1-inch ball. Drop the ball into the cocoa. Repeat with the remaining truffle mixture. Gently shake the pie plate to coat truffles evenly. Transfer truffles to the prepared container, separating layers with additional waxed paper. Cover tightly and refrigerate up to 2 weeks, or freeze up to 3 months.

In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch and water until smooth.
Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in gelatin until dissolved. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes or until slightly cooled.

WEEKLY ASTROLOGICAL REPORT:  May 27-June 2, 2013

This week we again have 4 planets in Gemini, giving an ability to adapt, but also potential boredom, and problems at times concentrating.

The Sun is now settled in versatile, bright, intelligent, and expansive Gemini, enabling us to do several things at once, but also making us prone to taking on too many things at once.

The Moon starts the week in aloof, pessimistic, responsible Capricorn. Wednesday it moves into imperative, magnetic, impulsive Aquarius, with a Last Quarter Moon on 31st May, which can cause minor issues to niggle at us. Saturday it moves into emotional, sentimental, sensitive Pisces, finishing the week there.

Mercury remains in clever, quick-witted, communicative, but changeable Gemini.

Venus remains in light-hearted, flirtatious Gemini, with a need for flexibility in romantic relationships.

Mars remains in determined, hard-working, practical Taurus, until the end of the month. On 1st June it moves into intellectual, restless Gemini, with a need for physical exercise. The

Generation Planets ongoing influence remain the same at least till the end of June as follows:
  • Jupiter still travels direct through tolerant, fun loving Gemini, until the end of June, enabling us be more flexible overall, and achieve success in challenging situations, but easily distracting too.
  • Saturn remains in resilient, resolute, competent, and strong-willed Scorpio, for the next couple of years, and is now traveling Retrograde until the end of June, during this period, it can give some people a need for more privacy, make some feel more insecure, or lacking in confidence, but can help us define limits in our lives.
  • Uranus remains in energetic, courageous, self-willed, proud Aries until early 2019, with rebelliousness, or disruptions from our usual routine, and what is important is working out ways to deal with this, so we can have some diversions when bored, without going to extremes, that can cause major problems.
  • Neptune remains in sensitive, intuitive Pisces for the foreseeable future, and helps us gradually develop more empathy, compassion, and build understanding, in a wide variety of ways, but also indicates a need to remain realistic.
  • Pluto remains in Capricorn for the foreseeable future, showing we may acquire knowledge more deeply, and try to recycle in realistic and practical ways than previously. It’s currently traveling Retrograde, sparking a deeper search for inner truth.
